The NRD has established the Community Assistance Program to assist communities (towns, villages, neighborhood associations, homeowner associations, etc.) with the planning, design, and construction of eligible projects. Typical projects include stream stability, streambank stabilization, flood control, stormwater quality, etc. Projects/requests are considered on a case-by-case basis, with assistance typically limited to 50% of the cost, with the community often being the sponsor of the project and contracting for engineering, obtaining land rights and permits, and agreeing to operate and maintain the project. If community officials have ideas or problems related to natural resources, please contact us.
