The Lower Platte South Natural Resources District’s (LPSNRD) 2019 Master Plan outlines the LPSNRD vision, mission, responsibilities, and priorities for 2019–2029. The plan provides a roadmap for protecting and managing the district’s land and water resources while addressing future growth and conservation needs.

LPSNRD’s vision is to protect natural resources for future generations, and its mission is to maintain a sustainable environment through the conservation of land, water, and wildlife. Guided by state statute, the district’s work includes flood prevention and control, groundwater and surface water management, erosion and sediment control, pollution prevention, forestry, wildlife habitat development, and recreation.

The Master Plan highlights the district’s history of flood reduction efforts, groundwater management, and conservation leadership across southeastern Nebraska. It outlines current programs such as cost-share assistance for landowners, groundwater monitoring and regulation, integrated water management planning, environmental education, watershed and levee projects, recreation development, and public information efforts.

The plan also identifies long-term goals, desired outcomes, and objectives to guide implementation through annual budgets and the district’s Long-Range Implementation Plan, ensuring continued protection of natural resources while meeting the needs of a growing population.
