Wetlands Rules & Regulations

LPSNRD has received many inquiries about the hunting status of the Warner Wetlands, on either side of Interstate 80, between 84th and 98th streets, in Lincoln.  NO HUNTING IS ALLOWED on this property.  The wetland is used, by permission, for archery mentor youth hunts throughout the fall that are sponsored by the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission.  Game & Parks posts information on its website about where to hunt.

A saline wetland results when artesian salt water flows to the surface over a long period of time and changes the characteristics of the soil.  Saline wetlands are among the rarest land types on earth and support several equally-rare species of flora and fauna.  Modern development has dwindled the number of saline wetland acres, however, LPSNRD has had success in restoring several saline wetlands, which are represented below.  To learn more about saline wetlands, visit the website of the Eastern Nebraska Saline Wetlands Conservation Partnership, of which LPSNRD is a partner.
