LPSNRD COVID-19/Meeting Announcements

LPSNRD COVID-19/Meeting Announcements

Scheduled LPSNRD Board of Directors and subcommittee meetings are listed below.  Zoom links for virtual public access are included if the Board or subcommittee is meeting virtually.  Here are some notes to help the public participate in our vitrual Board of Directors meetings effectively:

  • If you call in to listen to the Board of Directors meeting by phone, LPSNRD staff will talk with you and ask whether you have any desire to participate in the meeting.
  • If you call in by phone and wish to speak on an item that is ON the agenda, tell LPSNRD staff which agenda item you wish to address.
  • If you wish to address the Board of Directors on a topic that is NOT on the agenda, you may do so at a specific time early in the meeting.  The Board chair will ask something similar to, "Is there anyone joining us by phone who wishes to address the Board on a non-agenda item?"  This is when you will be able to speak.
  • The Board chair will, then, say something similar to, "If there is anyone joining us via Zoom who wishes to address the Board on a non-agenda item, please indicate by utilizing Zoom's 'raise hand' feature or the 'chat' function."
  • If you join the Board of Directors meeting via Zoom, please be sure to label yourself using your full name for recognition purposes.

OFFICE OPERATIONS
The LPSNRD office, 3125 Portia Street, Lincoln, is open to public walk-in traffic.  Staff continues to work in shifts at the office and at home, so if you need to meet with a specific staff member, please email them to make an appointment or phone the main office: 402-476-2729, weekdays, 8:00am to 4:30pm to check the staff member's availability.

LPSNRD LAKES, TRAILS & WETLANDS
All LPSNRD lakes, trails and wetlands are open for daytime use.  All eight of our public use lakes, including Wildwood Lake, are open to overnight camping.  Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, LPSNRD has removed all porta potties from public use areas, all vault toilets have been locked and all drinking fountains have been shut off.  These precautions will remain in effect until further notice to keep our staff and the public safe and healthy.

Restrooms at Timber Point Lake, the Loma Oak Creek Trailhead and the Walton MoPac East Trailhead will open to the public on May 15th.  The human/pet water fountain at Walton will also be turned on in mid-May.

WILDWOOD LAKE is owned by LPSNRD and managed as a wildlife management area by the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission.  Information about camping at these facilities, while observing COVID-19 health guidelines, is available at http://outdoornebraska.gov/healthinfo/.

Not related to COVID-19 is the closing of the second mile of our Oak Creek Trail, west of Valparaiso.
