Flood Control


Purpose: To assist landowners in building a dam on a larger drainage area to provide a pond for the landowners as well as for improved flood control downstream. Landowner(s) must own a site that drains more than 200 acres and has good land treatment (75%) in the watershed.

How to Apply:
1. Fill out the application form on the opposite page.
2. Attach an aerial photo showing the location of your property and what you feel would be an appropriate location for the dam.

Process:
1. Landowners apply for the Flood Control Cost-Share Program.
2. The Lower Platte South NRD inspects the prospective site at the end of the calendar year.
3. All applications are reviewed and prioritized with the top priority site(s) moving into the design stage.
