| The Lower Platte South Natural Resources District participates with other Nebraska NRDs in a program to provide seedling trees and shrubs in bulk to cooperating landowners. The minimum order is 100 and each species desired must be requested in increments of 25 because trees and shrubs are sold in bundles of 25. Ordering trees in bulk allows us to get an excellent price per tree. All trees and shrubs are $.70 each or $74.90 per hundred, including sales tax. Seedlings are only delivered once a year in the spring time. Orders are still being accepted, but some species might be limited. There are 40,000 trees and shrubs available to cooperators this season and the species available are listed on the "Tree Request Form". Trees purchased through this program may not be resold with the roots still attached. Trees purchased through this program must also be planted within the Lower Platte South NRD and the legal description portion of the "Tree Request Form" must be completed. All trees ordered through the Lower Platte South NRD will be delivered directly to the NRD Office approximately Mid-April and stored in our custom-made tree cooler until the cooperator is ready to plant. It is up to the cooperator to retrieve the trees from the NRD. The earlier you pick up your trees from our tree cooler and plant them, the better their survival rate will be. |

Photos and information about many of the species of trees and shrubs we offer are available on the web site of the Nebraska Association of Resources Districts (NARD). Please note, however, this NRD does not offer all of the species described there. Also, here are links to .pdf files on species we do offer that are not on the NARD site:
Eastern White Pine, Gray Dogwood, Norway Spruce, Redosier Dogwood
At your request, the NRD Forester will make a free planning visit with you to your site and suggest species of trees that would most benefit you and your land. Contact NRD Forester Rich Lodes at 472-3646. If you wish to do your own planning, there are many good sites on the Internet to help. Making a detailed plan before requesting your trees and shrubs will mean better efficiency at planting time and a better final result!
The form you send is a "request" and we will do our best to get you the species and number of each request. However, if orders in the program exceed the number of trees available to us in a species, we will contact you to discuss possible alternate species. If you are not satisfied with your options at that time, you will receive a refund. All cooperators will receive a confirmation of their order after processing by the NRD. Orders cannot be changed after confirmations are mailed.
Many factors influence exactly when trees will be delivered to the NRD but we hope all trees ordered arrive by Mid-April. Cooperators will be notified when they can pick up their trees from the NRD office.
