Dead Man's Run
Dead Man's Run is one of six Lincoln waterways that are major collectors of stormwater, all of which empty into Lincoln's only outgoing waterway, Salt Creek.
Trees used in teaching and experimentation plots on UNL's East Campus have been destroyed by severe erosion along Dead Man's Run and more were threatened, so the NRD, in October, 2004, formally partnered with the City of Lincoln and the University to stabilize the bank of both Dead Man's Run and a tributary on East Campus.

| Experimental nut trees on East Campus were threatened by severe erosion of the Dead Man's Run and south tributary channels. |
The conceptual design of the stream stabilization measures follows a natural channel approach and limited the work on Dead Man’s Run to only the problem areas, using bioengineering techniques. The eroding tributary was increased in length by constructing a new, meandering section of channel, raising the bottom of the existing channel and using bioengineering techniques to stabilize the eroding streambanks.
