Well Inspection

The NRD helps landowners with the cost of making abandoned wells safe. Without proper treatment, called decomissioning, abandoned wells can be a danger to people and animals and if animal waste, used motor oil or other contaminants find their way into the well, they go directly into the ground water.

Upon receiving an application, the NRD will contact the landowner about an inspection of the well site. Upon approval the landowner may then contact a licensed well driller and have the well decommissioned. The NRD will make reimbursement to the landowner using established payment rates (see application). Contact the NRD if you have questions.
