"I support the wise use of resources; that use may be preservation of scarce resources such as saline wetlands and tall grass prairies. We should strive to maintain the rural nature of the District. We need to minimize erosion and runoff and maintain high water quality. A guiding tenet for scarce resources should be what do we have and how do we use them wisely rather than what do we need and where are we going to get them. As we use resources, we must do so that we pass on those resources in good stead to our children and grand children."

"We must wisely use tax dollars to conserve water, land
and wildlife resources for those who are here now and those that come after
us. In this time of ever increasing developmental pressures, it is very
important that the Board look long-term and, with community involvement,
establish goals and strategies and a common vision to balance the protection
of natural resources with the necessity to accommodate growth and change.
What we do today determines tomorrow's realities." |

"While the legislators keep adding to the responsibilities of the Natural Resources Districts and yet reduce property tax funding, it is imperative to establish priorities on projects. We must make sure that there is equality in programs between the urban and rural areas. The NRD's will not be able to afford all of the requests so we should make sure we get the most out of our resources with the least financial burden on taxpayers." |

"The mission of the Lower Platte South NRD
is very important to our generation and the generations to come in our District
and throughout Nebraska. I give priority to water quality, flood prevention
and control, soil conservation, and erosion control. It is very important
to future generations to maintain this focus. While recreation is a part
of our responsibilities and is important, I believe we must prioritize each
area in order to maintain our financial prudence to the District taxpayers
and observe the rights of private property owners." |

"The mission of the Lower Platte South NRD is extremely important to the citizens both within our District and outside. I believe we need to continue our proactive approach to four priority areas: water quality, flood prevention and control, soil conservation, and erosion prevention and control. We have an inherent responsibility to future generations to excel in these areas. At the same time, we must ensure financial prudence to the District taxpayers. We can't "be all things to all people", rather we need to prioritize programs and provide adequate funding for same." |
